Wineries

The Central Virginia Piedmont is a great environment for viniculture. Three outstanding wineries are located in Madison County and produce fine wines known nationally and internationally. These wineries are easily accessible and welcome visitors interested in their operations. Tours through both their facilities are informative and enjoyable down to the last sip.

DuCard Vineyards
DuCard Vineyards is Virginia’s newest (and only solar powered) winery, comprising 7 acres of French vinifera and native Virginia varieties, all meticulously nurtured and tended by hand. Located at an elevation of 1,000 feet, on a picturesque slope in the shadow of the Blue Ridge mountains, our grapes reflect the rocky soils and rugged landscape of Madison County, Virginia and yield wines of unique character and complexity. DuCard Vineyards new tasting room features gorgeous views of vines, mountain stream and the Shenandoah National Park. We are open for tastings 11 AM – 6 PM Friday through Sunday plus holiday Mondays, and by appointment. We also offer vineyard tours with a unique focus on the viticulture practices we use in growing the grapes. A brief profile of our operations appeared recently in the local Madison Eagle newspaper, and a link can be accessed on our website, along with a number of other magazine and TV features.
